Training for Ductal Lavage Practitioners
The FirstCyte® Breast Test Training Program
is designed to enable Cytyc to provide one-on-one ductal lavage training
to clinicians in an office setting. These clinicians commit to ordering
supplies and scheduling 3-5 patients on a single half day to learn
the technical aspects of ductal lavage from a clinician experienced
in performing
and teaching the FirstCyte Breast Test.
The training program includes review of:
- FirstCyte Breast Test Instructions for Use
- Patient education about breast aspiration and ductal lavage procedures
- Anesthesia of the nipple
- Dekeratinization of the nipple and compression of the breast
- Operation of the breast aspirator to obtain nipple aspirate fluid
- Cannulation and lavage of breast milk ducts using the microcatheter
- Cannulation using additional dilators as needed
- Recording ductal lavage findings
- Handling and labeling of ductal lavage specimens
